Special meeting reviews SB11 prayer/Bible-policy requirement and holds Team of Six training

At a special business meeting Feb. 4, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Mina Schnitta briefed trustees on Senate Bill 11, which requires school boards to vote by March 1, 2026 on whether to adopt a policy allowing a dedicated period for prayer and the reading of the Bible or other religious texts during the school day. Dr. Schnitta asked trustees to review SB11 and Board Policy FNA (Legal/Local) and noted the item will return for consideration and possible approval at the Feb. 18 board meeting.
After the SB11 briefing, Region 20 Field Service Agent Dr. Cade Smith facilitated a 'Team of Six' training session focused on board operating procedures and recent legislative and procedural updates. Trustees discussed revisions to the Board Operating Procedures (BOP) and agreed additional meetings may be required to finalize proposed updates.
