Public commenters call for resignations and request records; one apologizes for earlier remarks

During the public‑comment period President Andrea D. Nicholas invited two speakers to address the board. Christopher Downing used his time to enumerate reasons he believes some board members should resign and distributed a packet of supporting documents to trustees.
Joe Shellhart addressed the board next. He retracted and apologized for a statement he made at the prior meeting regarding teacher salary increases and advocated for additional raises for teachers in the future. Shellhart said he will file a writ of mandamus with the county if the Public Information Act request he submitted is not complied with by Friday, Oct. 31. President Nicholas thanked both speakers and the meeting proceeded to the next agenda item.
