FSHISD launches gamified phishing campaign; staff report hundreds of simulated emails

As part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Director of Technology Torie Marquez briefed the board on a gamified phishing campaign launched this school year to improve staff awareness and response. "Since its launch in August, the initiative has seen strong engagement. Specifically, 612 simulated phishing emails have been reported by staff, and 512 micro‑learning sessions have been completed to date," Marquez said.
Marquez described the program mechanics: voluntary participation, staff earn points for identifying/reporting simulated phishing emails, and short micro‑learning modules are available to reinforce correct responses. The initiative is intended to strengthen the district’s security posture by focusing on staff behavior and recognition of phishing risks.
