Andrea Nicholas elected Board President as trustees reorganize offices

At its Sept. 24 meeting, the Fort Sam Houston ISD Board of Trustees elected Andrea Nicholas as Board President and Rebecca A. Zinnante as Vice President; COL (R) Aaron J. Braxton II was elected Board Secretary. Votes were taken publicly and several positions were decided by roll call.
Andrea D. Nicholas was elected Board President of the Fort Sam Houston Independent School District during the board's Sept. 24 regular meeting after a nomination by Dr. LaToya E. Sizer and a unanimous roll-call vote of five in favor.
Superintendent Dr. Gary Bates presided temporarily for the reorganization. Nominations for Vice President included COL (R) Aaron J. Braxton II and Board Member COL Rebecca A. Zinnante. In the first vote Braxton received two votes and Zinnante two votes, producing no majority; a subsequent vote elected COL Rebecca A. Zinnante as Vice President with three votes. Later, Vice President Zinnante nominated COL (R) Braxton for Board Secretary; he was elected unanimously. The board recorded each member’s vote aloud as part of the public record.
