Flatonia ISD scored 98 points out of 100 on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for the third consecutive year, Business Manager Rodney Stryk reported during a public hearing on Nov. 10, 2025. He told trustees two points were deducted because the district was over budget “by 1/8th of a tenth” related to administration costs.
The FIRST rating evaluates school-district financial operations and is used by stakeholders to assess fiscal health. Board President Pastor Tim Rowell opened and closed the public hearing; no members of the public spoke during the hearing. The district’s consistent high score signals ongoing financial oversight at a level that contributed to recent debt refinancing, officials said.
