Board adds dual-credit speech course to help maintain CCMR rate

Fairfield ISD will offer a Dual Credit Speech course in the 2026–27 school year after trustees approved the superintendent’s recommendation on April 13. Trustee Jeff Wright moved to approve the addition and the motion passed 7-0.
Superintendent Craig told trustees that recent changes to how CCMR (college, career and military readiness) is calculated could materially affect the district’s accountability rating. He said the dual-credit speech class would help maintain the district’s high percentage of students meeting CCMR benchmarks while staff continue work on Industry-Based Certifications (IBCs) and TSIA college-readiness scores. “By adding this dual credit speech class for a year could help us maintain our high percentage of students who meet the CCMR standards,” Mr. Craig said.
The motion authorizes district staff to add the course for 2026–27; trustees did not specify enrollment caps, credit-hour details or funding sources during the meeting.
