Trustees voted 7-0 on April 13 to purchase 500 Chromebooks and protective cases from Invicta PCS for $133,600 for the district’s intermediate campus. The motion to approve the purchase was made and seconded during the technology agenda item.
Technology staff reported that a surge in data-center construction has driven up per-unit prices in the Chromebook market; in response, staff recommended switching to a different brand to preserve quality while achieving better value. “We will be able to purchase 500 new Chromebooks for the intermediate school and have them ready for the beginning of the school year,” Mr. Thill said. The board approved the purchase with no recorded opposition.
The purchase covers devices and cases; the motion did not tie the purchase to a specific funding line in the district’s public remarks. Procurement and device deployment timelines were not specified beyond being ready for the start of the next school year.
