The Fruitvale ISD Board on July 17 voted to prohibit homeschool students from participating in University Interscholastic League‑sanctioned district activities. After discussion, Board Member Kim Pettiet made the motion; Charles Lacy seconded and the motion carried 5–0 with two members absent.
Board members noted that several neighboring districts — including Edgewood, Canton, Van and Grand Saline — were not allowing homeschool students to participate, a factor raised during the discussion prior to the vote. The motion was recorded during the meeting minutes and implemented by board action; no amendments or conditions were recorded at the time of the vote.
