Dr. Jon Hill presented preliminary tax-rate estimates for the 2026–27 fiscal year, explaining that projected Maintenance & Operations (M&O) and Interest & Sinking (I&S) rates reflect tax compression and current debt-service needs. He presented a projected M&O rate of $0.7531 (down from $0.7552) and an I&S projection of $0.2020 (down from $0.2425), cautioning that final rates will depend on certified property values and TEA's Maximum Compressed Rate guidance.
The finance presentation listed preliminary property values at $1,878,104,545, an estimated 2.1% increase from the prior year. District staff said certified property values are expected in late July, after which the board will finalize tax calculations and hold a public hearing in August prior to adoption.
