School Health Advisory Council recommends updated VOCE curriculum and flags aging AEDs

Christa Call, chair of the School Health Advisory Council, told trustees the SHAC met earlier in the year and approved an updated VOCE curriculum from Abigail’s Arms that incorporates Erin’s Law; the council recommended the curriculum to the board for approval for the 2026–27 school year.
SHAC also discussed the possibility of replacing the AIM for Success program with the free 180 Sex Ed Texas curriculum, identified aging AED devices across district campuses that may need replacement before an upcoming state audit, and described the Hope Team’s "reset bags" program that provides personal care items to students in need. SHAC members discussed forming a Physical Activity Committee to comply with Texas law and increasing parent participation in opt-in programs.
