GCCISD officials outline 5x5 secondary schedule that could let students earn 10 credits annually

District leaders presented a 5x5 secondary master schedule proposal at the Feb. 23 board meeting. Deputy Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction Dr. Susan Jackson, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Matt Bolinger, principals and athletic and fine-arts directors outlined the model and potential staff and student benefits.
The administration described the model this way: "5 Classes • 5 days a week • One semester long • Students earn one credit per course per semester." The board asked administrators to provide specific examples of how the 5x5 schedule would be implemented at Goose Creek Memorial High School and other campuses before any final decision.
