Clerk Zagone swears in new Steger police officer as meeting lacks quorum

The Village of Steger Board of Trustees convened at 7:00 p.m. on Feb. 18, 2025, in the Municipal Building. Clerk Joseph Zagone led the Pledge of Allegiance and the roll call showed three trustees present — Lopez, Trotier and Perchinski — and three absent. "We do not have a quorum, but, with that we will go to Awards, Honors and Special Recognition," Zagone said before proceeding to the recognition item.
Police Chief Greg Smith introduced new full-time Police Officer Mitchell Hosman. Clerk Joseph Zagone administered the oath of office to Officer Hosman in front of family, friends and fellow officers. After the swearing-in, Trustee Perchinski thanked department heads and members of the audience. Zagone closed the meeting: "In the absence of a quorum, this will conclude our business for the night." The meeting ended at 7:08 p.m.
