Gatesville ISD opened its meeting with several recognitions. Dr. Barrett Pollard highlighted Coach Jason Moffett's powerlifting team — Alyssa Saxon, Marin Segraves, Bela Mondragon, Kaden Coffman and Draven Henderson — noting the group includes three seniors who mentor the younger lifters. Coach Moffett said he "has enjoyed coaching the seniors and looks forward to the future of the younger lifters in the program." The board acknowledged the athletes' advancement to state competition.
Dr. Pollard also recognized staff member Chris Morrall after Morrall performed the Heimlich maneuver on a student who had choked on a water bottle lid; the student recovered quickly. Dr. Pollard framed Morrall's action as exemplifying the district motto, "Doing what’s best for kids." The superintendent thanked Travis, Brandi and Zoe Hipp for creating banners along the cross country track that have received positive community feedback.
