The Georgetown ISD Board of Trustees on Aug. 18 adopted a 2025 tax rate of $1.0506 per $100 of assessed value, with $0.6931 designated for maintenance and operations and $0.3575 for debt service.
The resolution states, in capitalized text included in the board packet, "THIS TAX RATE WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 5.83% AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $38.20." The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Anthony Blankenship and seconded by Stacy McLaughlin; the board voted 7‑0 to approve the measure.
Board President James Scherer presided over the vote. The board packet and resolution reflect that the district will assess the stated rates for the 2025 tax year and that tax officials designated by the district will carry out collection. The board also previously appointed the district CFO as the tax rate calculation officer to compute the no‑new‑revenue and voter‑approval rates under state law.
Next procedural steps include filing the adopted rate with the county assessor/collector per Texas Tax Code directives and public notices as required by state statute.
