GPD Chief Jeffrey Clark and Captain Keith Mueller updated the committee that law enforcement plans to step up enforcement against local vape shops. "Another sting operation on local vape shops is likely coming soon," the GPD representatives told the committee, and they noted some shops operate mainly as hemp businesses.
The report followed parent concerns about vaping raised by Scott Ayres, who said, "I believe vaping amongst students could be a big problem." GPD officers and the parent representative discussed coordinating compliance checks and educating students and families; no formal enforcement action by the district was recorded during the meeting.
