The Gatesville ISD Board approved a new schedule of daily start and end times for the 2026–27 school year to standardize instructional minutes across campuses and permit extracurricular activities to practice in cooler morning temperatures. Superintendent Dr. Barrett Pollard said the later times "will facilitate our extracurricular activities, completing more of their practice time before school" and allow additional periodic holidays by lengthening daily minutes at primary and elementary campuses.
The board approved the following times for 2026–27: Primary — Pre-K 7:45–3:30; Kindergarten 8:00–3:45; Elementary — 8:00–3:45; Intermediate/Junior High/High School — 8:10–3:55; DAEP — 8:00–3:45. The WINGS program schedules are All Day 8:00–3:30, Morning 8:00–11:45 and Afternoon 11:45–3:30. The motion to adopt the schedule passed 5–0 with two trustees absent.
