Gatesville ISD trustees voted to award the replacement of the McKamie Stadium running track to HELLAS after reviewing bids from six firms and applying an 11-parameter rubric. Assistant Superintendent of Finance LeighAnn Goodwin told the board that "HELLAS scored the highest in the rubric with a bid coming in within the already approved fund balance amount of $299,451." The motion to approve the contract passed 5–0 with two trustees absent.
Goodwin said the district had previously approved a one-time payment from fund balance to cover construction of the running track. Bidders included G2 General Contractors, Symmetry, TGS Sports, Paragon Sports Constructors, VIBRA-WHIRL Sports and HELLAS; the board did not discuss financing beyond the previously approved fund balance allocation. The district plans construction in spring 2026.
