Hale Center ISD trustees voted on March 21 to amend the district's District of Innovation Plan, approving changes to local policy language related to instructional arrangements and complaints.
"Chance Crossland moved to amend the District of Innovation Plan as adopted on March 9, 2026 with the following changes: Delete: EEP (LOCAL) - Instructional Arrangements Lesson Plans Adopt: DGBA(LOCAL) Personnel Management Relations Employee complaints/Grievances, FNG(LOCAL) - Student Rights and Responsibilities Student and Parent Complaints/Grievances, and GF(LOCAL) Public Complaints," according to the meeting record. The motion was seconded by Troy McGann and passed by a 6-0 vote; Jack Needham was recorded as absent.
The change removes the EEP(LOCAL) provision on lesson plans and incorporates new or amended policy codes (DGBA[LOCAL], FNG[LOCAL], GF[LOCAL]) addressing personnel-management complaint procedures and student/parent/public complaint processes. The amendment was offered as a single motion and adopted during the special called meeting; the district did not record additional debate or public comment on the item in the minutes.
Board members voting in favor were Pam Johnson, Paul Chandler, Chance Crossland, Heath Huffhines, Troy McGann and Meranda Sierra. The meeting minutes list school personnel Kelly Baggett and Keith Bryant as present and note Jack Needham as absent. The amended policy language will be reflected in the district's policy manual and the District of Innovation Plan records.
