The Steger School District 194 Board of Education certified the Will County Certificate of Results for the April 1, 2025 Consolidated Election and then administered oaths to newly elected members during a special meeting May 8 at Columbia Central Middle School. The certification motion, moved by Nicholas Hutchison and seconded by Jose "Jo-Pep" Najar, carried 7-0.
Jill Raymond administered the Oath of Office to Michele Helsel, Beth Butkus, Nicholas "Nick" Hutchison and Jose "Jo-pep" Najar. After the outgoing board adjourned sine die at 7:30 p.m., the reorganized board elected officers: Jill Raymond was selected President Pro Tem; Michele Helsel was nominated and elected Board President; Jill Raymond was later elected Vice President; and Beth Butkus was elected Board Secretary. Each nomination and election passed by unanimous vote, with motions and seconds recorded in the minutes.
