Jennifer Brett Snyder of the Kansas Department for Children and Families updated the Cabinet on Family Resource Center funding and Family First RFP activity.
She said the FY28 Family Resource Center grantees were posted on the DCF website and that the agency is working through a Family First RFP process with announcements expected in the coming weeks. Snyder cautioned that some state-funded programs have very limited slots and are currently available only through referrals or regional channels.
"We don't really wanna widely advertise those because we don't want the community to be frustrated that they're not able to access a service," Snyder said, describing the agency’s approach to managing limited capacity while it pursues additional federal support. She said DCF is applying for an ACF grant and expects a selection decision by Sept. 30; if awarded, DCF will seek legislative investment to expand community access.
