Trustee reports highlight landbank activity, school phone policy and busy community center ahead of Earth Day

Trustee Trotier and Community Center Director Diana Rossi updated the board on community programs and local partnerships.
Trustee Trotier said she attended a South Suburban Land Bank and Development Authority meeting and described its role rehabbing distressed properties to return them to taxable ownership. She also reported attending a School District 194 board meeting and said the district is strengthening its no-phone policy using YONDR pouches.
Rossi said the Louis Sherman Community Center has been busy, with roughly 1,050 visits across clubs, fitness classes and members over the past two weeks. Trustee Trotier also reminded the public that the village will host an Earth Day event on April 26 and an electronic-recycle event the last Saturday in June; registration is available by emailing FDesk@villageofsteger.com or calling Village Hall.
The board received the updates as informational and did not vote on the events during the meeting.
