Residents urge action after alleged dog neglect, property neglect reported at 3400 Morgan St.

Several Steger residents used the public‑comment portion of the Jan. 21 meeting to press the board for action after recurring incidents at a property at 3400 Morgan St. Jessica Berger read a prepared statement about dogs being kept outside in unsafe temperatures. Audrey Fisher said she filed a police report and contacted Will County Animal Control after seeing no change; the minutes note that the Steger Police Department placed a statement into the public record. Theresa McHale and Will Barr described related nuisance problems at neighboring properties, including abandoned cars, spotlighting and visitors; Barr said one of the dogs is "capable of jumping the fence" and that he can no longer walk his smaller dog on that part of Morgan Street.

Residents asked for enforcement action and outside assistance. The board did not record a formal directive during the meeting, but Director of Public Infrastructure Dave Toepper subsequently introduced newly hired Code Enforcement Officer Romel Stanford and Stanford addressed the audience, saying, "your voices have been heard, all your concerns have been noted," and urged residents to contact him in the field.
