Steger EMA retires longtime volunteer John Zajac, awards Police Hall of Fame citation

The Village of Steger publicly recognized longtime Steger EMA volunteer John Zajac during the Jan. 21 Board of Trustees meeting. EMA Chief Jason Stevenson introduced Zajac, read a letter from the Police Hall of Fame awarding the Civilian Medal of Appreciation and presented a plaque from Steger EMA in recognition of more than four decades of service.
Zajac accepted the honors and "expressed his overwhelming appreciation for the recognition and for the opportunity to serve the Village of Steger," according to the minutes. Chief Stevenson noted that nearly every current Steger EMA member had been trained by Zajac during his tenure.
