Steger reports drainage work, power-line relocation and advancing lead service-line replacements

Public Works Director Dave Toepper updated the board on several infrastructure projects, including drainage work in the Susan Park area, power-line relocation around the village water tower and the ongoing lead service-line replacement program.

Toepper said crews had dredged existing ditches in the Susan Park area and planned to replace concrete pipes leading toward Barbara, then continue to the south side of Barbara. He reported that ComEd is scheduled to start moving power lines around the water tower and "expects to be done this month" on its portion of the work; a pre-construction meeting is scheduled next week with the painting contractor for the tower. On the water-service front, Toepper said the lead-service line project "has gone down Morgan and back up Sangamon and [is] getting ready to turn the corner and start heading down Peoria." He also noted ComEd revised a planned boring approach to trenching for part of the work.
