Groesbeck ISD trustees voted March 30 to use job order contracting as the procurement method that provides the best value for playground work at H. O. Whitehurst and Enge-Washington Intermediate School. Scott Cummings presented bids and described work including demolition, ground preparation, ADA-compliant playground equipment, canopies and water drainage.
Trustee Stephen Bradley moved that job order contracting be used for the playground projects; the motion carried unanimously. The board also adopted a resolution selecting BuyBoard as the purchasing cooperative to hire job order contractors and chose Hunter-Knepshield of Texas, Inc. as the BuyBoard vendor for the two playground projects. Board members discussed a constraint at Kids Kare Academy where an electrical line prevents a canopy installation at one location; staff will contact the child care licensing department regarding options.
