Commission denies rezoning request to keep chickens and ponies at 2487 Johnson Road
Summary

Neighbors told a different story: Lawrence Bowman said the matter had been heard before and that the chickens continued to be a nuisance, describing feathers and carcasses entering his yard and repeated visits by code enforcement.
Ryan Nesbitt, another neighbor, told the board the prior ruling had not stopped the activity and argued that changing R‑1 to permit animals would expand the problem. After closing the public hearing the board voted to follow the planning commission’s recommendation to deny the rezoning. Commissioners discussed code enforcement status; staff said the property was currently in compliance but that complaints and neighbor concerns remained on the record.
