Hawkins Independent School District adopts $0.9835 tax rate, calls voter-approval election

At a special meeting on Aug. 18, 2025, the Hawkins Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a resolution adopting a 2025 tax rate of $0.9835 per $100 valuation and called a voter-approval tax-rate election. The motion was made by Ashley Conner and seconded by Tyler Turrentine; all five members present voted in favor.
Scott Evans presented the proposed rate during a public hearing prior to the vote. The board recorded the motion text as follows: "that we approve the attached Resolution and Order of the Hawkins Independent School District Adopting the 2025 Tax Rate of $0.9835 per $100 valuation and calling a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election; and providing for the conduct and giving of notice of said election; and resolving other matters related thereto." The board will follow the resolution's notice and election procedures to schedule and publicize the voter-approval election.
