Conesus board acknowledges April 4 Easter Egg Hunt, clarifies park purchasing rules

The Town of Conesus Town Board voted unanimously March 3 to acknowledge the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Ricky Greene Park on April 4, 2026. Councilman Jerome Butterbrodt moved the acknowledgement and Councilman John Fama seconded; the resolution passed AYES 5 NAYS 0.

During the Privilege of the Floor and the park update, resident Hannah Green asked who has decision-making authority for the park committee and how the committee should submit questions and quotes. Councilman Butterbrodt, the board’s park liaison, said citizens may bring questions and quotes at park meetings or to Town Board meetings. Deputy Supervisor Gary Sparks consulted the town’s procurement policy during the meeting and noted that purchases between $1,000 and $5,000 require written quotes from two vendors while purchases under $1,000 are at the buyer’s discretion. The board confirmed that purchases using town funds must be made by town employees; Town Clerk Julie C. Shutt will purchase Easter-egg-hunt supplies and be reimbursed by the town.
