The Henderson ISD Board of Trustees adopted a resolution authorizing payment of budgeted salary and wages to all district employees for the period of Jan. 26–28, 2026, when the district was closed for a weather emergency. Stacey Johnson presented the resolution and explained it also authorizes the superintendent to submit a missed-school-day waiver to the Texas Education Agency for Jan. 28, 2026.
The resolution text, approved by the board 5-0, states in part that "the Board finds a clear public purpose will be accomplished by the payment of budgeted salary and wages to all employees of the District for the period between January 26, 2026, through January 28, 2026," and notes that the Commissioner of Education has authorized waivers for complete campus closures. Trustees approved allowing the superintendent to excuse employee absences for the dates cited and to submit the waiver application on behalf of the district.
