Henderson ISD to apply for 2026–27 staff development minutes waiver

Henderson ISD trustees voted 7-0 on Feb. 10 to allow the district to apply for the 2026–27 Staff Development Minutes Waiver with administration seeking TEA approval. Stacey Johnson presented the waiver details and said it permits staff training intended to improve student outcomes to be used in lieu of up to the district's allotted student instructional minutes for that school year, subject to TEA approval.
Board member Loy Dorsey moved to authorize the application; Shannon Coats seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The waiver applies only for the 2026–27 school year and must be approved by the Texas Education Agency before it takes effect, Johnson told the board.
