The HAYS CISD Board of Trustees voted April 27 to purchase nine Class C 14-passenger school buses from Thomas Transit Buses for $1,277,420 and to accept a TCEQ Clean School Bus Grant of $570,294. The combined action sets the district’s net cost for the purchase at not to exceed $707,126; the motion passed 7-0.
Board President Byron Severance moved the approval after Trustee Courtney Runkle offered comments; the board authorized the Superintendent to negotiate and execute documents necessary to complete the transaction. The funding was identified as part of the district’s purchase approval and grant acceptance during the meeting.
