The Henderson ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously Feb. 10 to accept the district's 2024–25 annual financial report after an auditor reported an "unmodified opinion." Molly Abele of Carr, Riggs & Ingram, L.L.C. presented the audit and told trustees there were no compliance findings or internal control issues.
Abele said the district-wide net position is just over $45.6 million and that the general fund showed a decrease of about $127,000 compared with a budgeted decrease of $1.2 million. The board noted the district's fund balance is roughly 48%, well above the Texas Education Agency's 25% threshold for a healthy fund balance. Trustees approved the audit by motion from Lou Madsen and a second from Justin Scarborough; the vote was 7-0.
The auditor also explained timing delays tied to federal uniform guidance updates and TEA's extension of filing deadlines. No corrective actions were required based on the audit findings, the presentation stated.
