The Village of Steger board took several formal actions at its Feb. 3 meeting, including approving salary measures and an inducement resolution.
ORIDNANCE No. 1331, which sets salaries and wages for management employees, was adopted after brief discussion and a roll-call vote. Trustee William Joyce (recorded as Trustee Joyce in the minutes) said he was concerned that the ordinance combined hourly employees with salaried supervisors; Village Administrator Mary Jo Seehausen replied that the measure matched last year’s structure, saying, "this is the same ordinance that was passed last year, there are salaried employees that are supervisors and there are hourly employees that are supervisors." The ordinance passed with the following recorded votes: Lopez, Stewart, Trotier, Joyce and Perchinski aye; Thurmond abstained.
The board then adopted ORDINANCE No. 1332, fixing salaries and wages for non-management, non-union employees, by unanimous roll call. The body also approved RESOLUTION No. 1193, providing an inducement related to potential improvement of real property within the village, by unanimous vote. Earlier in the meeting trustees voted to pay all bills when funds are available; that motion carried on a unanimous roll call.
These votes were recorded in the official minutes and no further immediate implementation details (such as dollar totals or effective dates beyond the ordinance text) were provided during the meeting. Any implementation or payroll adjustments will follow administrative procedures outlined by village staff.
