Goliad ISD officials say preliminary TEA projections show the district as a 'C' overall

Superintendent Holly Lyon told the Goliad ISD board Aug. 19 that the Texas Education Agency had not released official accountability ratings because of a restraining order affecting TEA’s release schedule. Using district preliminary calculations and TEA guidance, Lyon said the district's projected ratings would likely show a 'C' overall for 2023–24.
Lyon summarized school‑level projections: Goliad Elementary projected a 'B', Goliad Middle a 'C', and Goliad High School a 'C'. "With those predictions, it looks like Goliad was a C district overall," Lyon said during the presentation. She said she was pleased with student growth despite the overall projection and committed to continuing improvement work.
The board received the presentation and did not take formal action on ratings; trustees were advised to await TEA’s official release and notification before publicizing final ratings.
