Code officer needs certification before inspections; town notified of foreclosure action on Sternisha property

Code Officer Dan Garneau informed the board that he is unable to conduct inspections or issue permits until he completes required certification. He said he would check with a local worker, Gordie, about interim assistance; the board agreed to pay Gordie for any help. Dan also reported that Fort Covington has asked whether he could serve as their Code Officer, and Fort Covington would pay half the cost of his schooling toward certification.
Supervisor Onufer reported that on Jan. 16, 2025 the town received a Summons and Notice of Pendency of Supreme Court action against a property owner (identified in the minutes as Jessica) filed by N.C. Savings Bank; the notice has been sent to the town attorney for handling. The board accepted the Code Officer's report by motion.
