Hudson ISD board extends superintendent's contract one year with 3% raise

The Hudson ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously on Jan. 22 to extend Superintendent Scott Martindale's employment contract by one year and approve a 3% salary increase effective July 1, 2026. The motion, moved by Mr. Rusty Pitts and seconded by Mrs. Aimee Slusher, carried 7-0 after the board reconvened from a closed session at 11:06 PM.
The extension followed an executive-session discussion of the superintendent's evaluation, contract and compensation under Tex. Gov't Code a7 551.074. The board also approved probationary contracts for Robby Hefner and Kayla Fincher for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year in the same open-session votes. Mr. Chris Smith moved and Mr. Reagan McClenny seconded the probationary-contract motion; that vote was also 7-0.
Board President Katie Baker had announced the closed meeting earlier, stating, "The board will now convene in a closed meeting to discuss the following items..." before the session began at 8:43 PM. No votes were taken in closed session; all formal actions were recorded after the board returned to open session.
