Eric Pennington, Newark’s business administrator, addressed council questions about 7 R 2 L, an amendment to the Newark Alliance budget. Pennington said the amendment does not increase the Alliance’s total budget but raises the administrative fee the Alliance pays to the city from 1% to 2% to reflect the city’s cost of administering collections and distributions.
"The budget has already been adopted by the council. This is, an amendment to their budget... It increased from 1% administrative fee to a 2% administrative fee," Pennington said, and he offered to draft a letter and secure a presentation from the Newark Alliance and related entities. Council members pushed for a detailed itemized budget showing how much money flows to NDD, parks and equipment; Pennington agreed to obtain the requested materials and to schedule the Alliance and NDD for a presentation, possibly in September.
