James McCans told the commission that a county-funded program administered locally through Rebuilding Together Miami‑Dade can provide free home repairs and accessibility modifications to qualifying homeowners. He said the program covers items such as roofs, floor repair, windows, painting, landscaping and handicap accessibility work, and that eligibility requires ownership, residency, current property taxes and household income at or below 80% of area median income.
McCans said the program is expected to help "more than 12 to 15 homes" in the county district and invited residents to a questions-and-answers workshop at the Senior Citizen Building (6701 Southwest 62 Avenue). Commissioners asked staff to help publicize the opportunity and clarified that the funding applies to households in the county commission District 7 footprint (including county parts of South Miami), not only to addresses inside the city limits.
