Stonington approves up to $10,000 for drain tile, catch basin on Locust Street

President Bruce Dowdy called the Village of Stonington Finance Meeting to order March 19, 2025. During the meeting Superintendent Jake Heberling described a leak on Locust Street and said crews found and tied in a 10-inch tile and a six-inch tile crossing the street; he told trustees the Drainage District and a local farmer would permit the village to hook into a tile drain in the middle of a field and cross the farmer’s land to complete the work.
Trustee Tammy Wilson moved and Trustee Tara Ramsey seconded a motion “to approve spending up to $10,000.00 to install drain tile and a catch basin on Locust Street.” The motion passed on a 6–0 vote. Meeting minutes note the farmer wants the work completed before crops are planted and that a bid for installation had been received.
