The Kaufman ISD Board of Trustees on Jan. 12 voted unanimously to approve Update 126 with changes recommended by district administration and to replace four TASB-suggested local policies with alternate versions aligned to the district's District of Innovation Plan. Casey Townsend read the two motions; trustees voted 7–0 on both actions.
In the first motion the board approved Update 126 as suggested by administration and removed the TASB-suggested policies listed as EEP, EFB, EIA and FNG from that update. Christine Borders seconded that motion. In a separate motion read later, the board adopted alternate local-policy language for those same TASB items so the district policy aligns with its District of Innovation Plan; Linda Mott seconded and the second vote also passed 7–0. President Drew Peterson and trustees Christine Borders, Linda Mott, Lindsey Abell, Byron Gregg, Elizabeth O'Donnell and Casey Townsend were recorded in favor.
Board members did not request that any of the three motions be sent back for additional study; minutes indicate both the removals and the adoption of alternate local policy versions were approved on the night’s consentable motions. The minutes do not include the full text of the alternate policy language; district staff indicated the updated local-policy versions will be posted with the board's policy packet and on the district's policy webpage for public review.
