Jefferson ISD calls May 2 board election, sets early voting April 20–28

On a recommendation from district staff, the Jefferson ISD board voted to call a trustee election for May 2, 2026, to fill two full three-year terms for places 4 and 5. The board also approved early voting hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays beginning April 20 and running through April 28, 2026.
The board previously approved a contract with the county and city to utilize a shared election administrator and cover associated costs; that contract passed 7-0 on a motion by Ms. Kirstin Johnson and second by Mr. Joey Romano. The motion to call the election was moved by Mr. Romano and seconded by Mr. Chris McCurry and carried 7-0.
