Stonington approves three vendors for village garbage collection

The Village of Stonington received three applications from waste haulers interested in serving the village: Cleeton’s Sanitation Service of Tovey, Carey’s Disposal of Mt. Auburn, and Area Disposal Service Inc., a GFL Environmental Company. Trustee Jeff Graham moved, and Trustee Scott Kuntzman seconded, a motion to allow all three companies to collect garbage in Stonington; the motion passed 6-0.
The action allows multiple licensed providers to operate within village limits; no exclusive franchise was awarded at the April 7 meeting and the board did not attach special conditions to the approvals in the recorded motion.
