Jourdanton ISD board approves $19.86M M&O budget and proposes $1.0198 tax rate for 2024–25

The Jourdanton Independent School District Board of Trustees on Aug. 12 approved the district’s proposed Maintenance and Operations budget for 2024–25 and set a proposed tax rate.
Trustee Phillip Netardus moved ‘‘I move to approve the current proposed budget for maintenance and operations (fund 199) in the amount of $19,857,980.’’ The motion passed unanimously. Trustee Kendall Schorsch moved to approve the cafeteria service budget (Fund 240) of $1,021,064, and the board approved the debt service budget (Fund 516) of $2,681,597 in separate motions; each passed with all trustees voting yea.
Trustee Nicole Rakowitz moved ‘‘I move to approve a proposed tax rate of $1.0198 for the 2024-2025 Budget.’’ The motion was seconded by Trustee Vance Jupe and passed 7–0. The board’s action establishes the proposed rate for the budget process; a final tax rate may be adopted later subject to required public notices and procedures.
Board members did not record additional public testimony on the budgets; no public commenters signed up at the meeting. The budgets and proposed tax rate will appear in the district’s public records and on the agenda for any subsequent required hearings or adoption votes.
