The Kenedy County-Wide Common School District Board of Trustees approved the district’s 2024–2025 budget and adopted a combined tax rate of $0.7595 per $100 valuation at its Aug. 28 regular meeting in Sarita.
The action followed a public hearing on the proposed budget and tax rate. The board accepted the No-New-Revenue Tax Rate and the Voter-Approval Tax Rate and voted to set the Maintenance and Operations rate at $0.7455 per $100 and the Interest and Sinking rate at $0.0140 per $100, for a total of $0.7595 per $100 value.
“Motion made by Felix Serna and seconded by Leticia Vela to approve the 2024-2025 District Budget, as presented. The motion passed unanimously,” the minutes state. The public hearing on the proposed budget had been listed on the meeting agenda for review and public comment; the board recorded that no members of the public were present to speak.
Trustees also approved the 2024 Certified Appraisal Roll from the Chief Appraiser of Kenedy County before adopting the tax rate, a procedural step the board recorded as passed unanimously. The board’s approval authorizes district staff to proceed with the budget and tax rate as adopted for fiscal year 2024–25.
