Superintendent: HB2 raises teachers but many support staff get 3% or separate scales
Summary
Superintendent Dr. Allison explained how House Bill 2 affects pay: classroom teachers receive $2,500–$5,000 depending on years of experience, while non‑classroom staff (diagnosticians, librarians, nurses) will be moved to a separate scale and generally receive step increases plus a 3% raise.

In his budget presentation Dr. Allison outlined how House Bill 2 will change district pay scales for 2025–26. He said HB2 provided a $55 increase to the basic allotment and specified state raises for classroom teachers: teachers with 3–4 years of total experience receive $2,500 and those with five or more years receive $5,000 added to the district schedule. He noted teachers with 0–2 years were not included in the HB2 classroom‑teacher raises.
Dr. Allison explained that non‑classroom staff previously placed on the teacher scale (diagnosticians, librarians, counselors and nurses) must be moved to a separate pay scale that will "mirror the teachers," but those employees will receive step increases plus a 3% raise. "All our other staff will receive a 3% raise," Allison stated, noting the district will work with TASB to recalculate scales and communicate individual impacts to employees after the budget is approved.
The explanation clarified why some support staff reported feeling left behind in recent adjustments and why administration expects to publish recalculated pay schedules soon.
