Staff says parade-route outreach prevented major sidewalk clutter but left tape behind

Lake Forest City staff reported that pre-parade outreach and a July 2 inspection left the parade route free of chairs and blankets, though tape used to reserve spots remained a concern to be addressed next year.
Manager Hunter told the commission staff coordinated with Public Works and used social media and digital street signage to inform residents to remove blankets, chairs and other personal items before July 3; an inspection on July 2 at 3 p.m. found no items that needed removal. "So on July 2 at 3PM, our public works team, inspected the parade route for blankets, chairs, and any other personal items that were placed along the sidewalks ... and there were actually no items to be removed," Hunter said.
Hunter said the city will aim to reduce leftover tape and debris in future years while maintaining clear ADA access along parade routes. Commissioners thanked parade organizers and volunteers, and some asked for clearer communications next year about whether residents may "save" spaces and under what conditions.
