Kaufman ISD showcases Adopt-A-Kid tradition and student recognitions at December meeting

Kaufman ISD used part of its Dec. 8 board meeting to showcase school celebrations and student recognitions. Students from Helen Edwards Early Childhood Center performed Christmas carols for those in attendance, and Jenny Henricks recognized School Board Students of the Month from each campus.
Principal Dr. Matthew Nichols introduced the Adopt-A-Kid tradition and asked NHS sponsor Mrs. Hartley to describe it; the board noted this is the program's 33rd year. According to the minutes, Kaufman High School classes adopt Helen Edwards pre-K and kindergarten students for visits with Santa, snacks, and gift-giving, described in the record as "one great example of Lions helping Lions." Dr. Nichols and Mrs. Webb also celebrated seniors receiving notable distinctions and discussed college visits and a scholarship match program for seniors.
