The Karnack Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously July 28 to approve the district 2025–26 compensation plan following a presentation by Amy Campbell of the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB).
The approved plan, as reflected in the board minutes, provides a 5% increase for some staff and a 10% increase for Superintendent Fitzpatrick, raising the superintendent salary from $102,000 to $112,200. Trustee Judy Vandeventer moved to approve the compensation plan and Trustee Lacy Warren seconded; the record shows a 7 for, 0 against, 0 abstaining vote.
Board members described the policy as part of the district sstrategy to retain staff ahead of the school year; Amy Campbell presented the plan and answered questions from trustees during the meeting. The minutes show the superintendent asked that the item be held for discussion after closed session, but the board ultimately acted on the plan during open session.
The board did not provide a line-item breakdown of which staff positions receive the 5% increase in the minutes. The motion passed unanimously and the minutes record the new superintendent salary as $112,200.
