Kerrville ISD board authorizes pay protections and premium pay during emergency closings

The Kerrville Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a resolution Feb. 16 authorizing continued wage payments to regular employees who are instructed not to report to work during an emergency school closing, and premium pay for nonexempt employees who are required to work under hazardous conditions during such a closure.
The resolution specifies a premium rate of 2.0 times the employee’s regular rate of pay for hours worked up to 40 in a week; overtime for hours over 40 is to be calculated and paid according to law. The authority in the resolution is effective for closures of up to one week unless the board votes to extend it. The motion to approve passed 7–0.
The resolution directs the superintendent and the CFO to implement wage payments and to follow applicable payroll law when calculating overtime.
