Keller ISD honors staff and student state-level achievements at board meeting

Trustees spent the early portion of the April 10 meeting recognizing staff and student accomplishments across the district.
Micah Young presented the March Hard at Work employee award to Johnny Reid, KISD Ground Services supervisor, and quarterly FACE awards honored Maria Cansino (custodian), Michael Montez (security officer) and Cindy Tracy (child nutrition specialist). Leticia Smiley, an adult transition teacher at the Keller Center for Advanced Learning, was named the Keller ISD Star Educator and received a $500 award from the M.R. and Evelyn Hudson Foundation.
Music staff highlighted that the Keller ISD Honor Choir was selected to perform at the TMEA Clinic Convention and that Trinity Springs Middle School’s Varsity Treble was invited to the ACDA National Conference in Dallas. Athletics recognitions included multiple UIL state finishes: Keller High boys swimming claimed a Class 6A championship with 265 points, Timber Creek’s Owen Wall won the Class 6A diving title and Keller’s Maximus Williamson earned multiple state titles and set records.
